THE OLDER BABY: RESOLVING UNRESOLVED  BREASTFEEDING CHALLENGES

Many breastfeeding dyads struggle for months, desperate to resolve issues with latch, pain, milk supply or breast refusal. Most have seen numerous providers (including IBCLCs) in their quest to simply breastfeed their babies, often feeling unheard, alone and heart-broken, yet refusing to give up. IBCLCs who work with these families need to dig deep, take a wide angle view, access a broad skillset and frequently collaborate with other practitioners in guiding these dyads through feeding challenges that only become more complex and intractable with time. Supporting these highly committed families can be among the most rewarding work we will do, but the challenges are unique and require a different set of tools than the highly reflex-driven infant requires. Learn how to merge your empathetic listening and clinical skills as you guide these families toward a more positive,

heart-centered outcome.
